Overview

Glycyltyrosine is a dipeptide composed of the amino acids glycine and L-tyrosine joined by a peptide bond. It is primarily used as an ingredient in amino acid solutions for parenteral nutrition to provide nutritional support in clinical settings[1][2]. Glycyltyrosine has also been studied for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties; it acts as a radical scavenger that inhibits lipid peroxidation and protects cells from oxidative damage[8]. Additionally, it may modulate inflammatory mediators and cytokines. The compound is involved in the synthesis of neurotransmitters such as catecholamines (dopamine, norepinephrine, epinephrine), which are important for nervous system function[6]. Its mechanism of action depends on context but includes serving as a substrate or modulator in metabolic pathways related to protein digestion and catabolism[4][6][8].
