GM-1111 is a first-in-class, synthetic polysulfated hyaluronan-based immune-modulating therapeutic developed by GlycoMira Therapeutics. It is designed to reduce inflammation and protect healthy tissue from radiation-induced damage during the treatment of solid tumors, particularly in head and neck cancers. Mechanistically, GM-1111 acts as an inhibitor of Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2)-mediated pro-inflammatory signaling and neutrophil elastase (NE) activity. It also exhibits mucolytic and bacteriostatic properties by enhancing DNA depolymerization in cystic fibrosis sputum and decreasing its viscoelasticity. Preclinical studies have shown that GM-1111 reduces the severity of radiation-induced oral mucositis without interfering with tumor regression induced by radiation therapy[1][2][3][5].
