Overview

**GM-K562 + autologous glioma cell vaccine** is an investigational personalized whole-tumor-cell cancer vaccine evaluated by Massachusetts General Hospital for recurrent malignant glioma. It combines lethally irradiated cells from an individual patient's resected glioma with lethally irradiated GM-K562 cells, an engineered K562 cell line that secretes granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor. The autologous tumor cells provide a broad, patient-specific source of tumor antigens, while locally released GM-CSF is intended to recruit and activate antigen-presenting cells and promote antitumor T-cell immunity. The regimen was studied as subcutaneous and intradermal vaccination in a Phase 1 trial. ([clinicaltrials.gov](https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT00694330))
