Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GM-XANTHO is a topical botanical drug developed by Xantho Biotechnology for the treatment of atopic dermatitis, with additional clinical development in psoriasis and pressure ulcers. It is a non-steroidal, steroid-free cream formulated from herbal ingredients. The drug acts primarily by modulating immune responses in the skin—animal studies have shown it induces anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10 production, reduces Th2 cytokines (including IL-4 and IgE), suppresses overexpression of IL-33 and CCL17 in keratinocytes, restores Th1/Th2 balance, repairs the skin barrier, alleviates itching, and lowers blood IgE levels. This comprehensive mechanism aims to reduce inflammation and recurrence rates without the side effects associated with corticosteroids or immunosuppressants[1][3][8]. Clinical trials have demonstrated efficacy for atopic dermatitis; ongoing studies are evaluating its use for psoriasis and wound healing (pressure ulcers)[3][8].
