Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GMMI V-FORTE is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) oral hypoglycemic agent developed and marketed by El Dorado Bio Tech Pvt. Ltd. for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. The formulation contains three active pharmaceutical ingredients with complementary mechanisms of action: Voglibose (0.3 mg), Metformin Hydrochloride (1000 mg), and Glimepiride (3 mg). Voglibose is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor that delays the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates in the small intestine, thereby reducing postprandial blood glucose levels. Metformin, a biguanide, improves glycemic control by decreasing hepatic glucose production and increasing peripheral insulin sensitivity. Glimepiride is a third-generation sulfonylurea that stimulates the release of insulin from pancreatic beta cells by blocking ATP-sensitive potassium channels. This triple combination therapy is typically indicated for patients whose blood sugar levels are not adequately controlled by dual therapy with metformin and a sulfonylurea. The product is approved and marketed in India.
