Overview

GmPcides are a class of small molecule antibacterial agents developed by Quretech Bio, based on a ring-fused 2-pyridone scaffold. These compounds are specifically designed to combat infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria, including multidrug-resistant pathogens such as Methicillin-resistant *Staphylococcus aureus* (MRSA) and Vancomycin-resistant *Enterococcus* (VRE). GmPcides function by disrupting the bacterial cell membrane or interfering with cell wall synthesis, and they are being investigated both as standalone bactericidal agents and as potentiators to restore the efficacy of conventional antibiotics against resistant strains. The program is currently in the preclinical stage for several indications, including acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSI) and *Clostridioides difficile* infections.
