Overview

GN200 (also known as INT-001) is a preclinical-stage development program by iNtRON Biotechnology that utilizes the proprietary itLysin® platform to create engineered endolysin-based biologics. These agents are specifically designed to target and eliminate broad-spectrum Gram-negative bacterial infections, including those caused by *Acinetobacter baumannii*, *Pseudomonas aeruginosa*, and *Klebsiella pneumoniae*. Unlike naturally occurring endolysins, which are typically restricted to Gram-positive bacteria due to the protective outer membrane of Gram-negative species, GN200 is engineered to penetrate the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) layer and outer membrane. Once inside, the endolysin hydrolyzes the peptidoglycan layer of the bacterial cell wall, leading to rapid osmotic lysis. This mechanism is particularly relevant for addressing multi-drug resistant pathogens such as carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) in indications like pneumonia and urinary tract infections.
