GND-001

GND-001 (also known as K33N or huK33N) is a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting integrin alpha-9 (ITGA9). Originally developed by Kidswell Bio (formerly Gene Techno Science) in collaboration with Hokkaido University, the antibody was licensed to Kaken Pharmaceutical in 2007 for development in immunological diseases and cancer. GND-001 works by binding to integrin alpha-9 and blocking its interaction with ligands such as osteopontin (OPN), VEGF-C, and VEGF-D, thereby inhibiting cell migration, invasion, and tumor metastasis. In 2020, the license agreement between Kaken Pharmaceutical and Kidswell Bio was cancelled, and the program was excluded from the pipeline.
