Overview

GNR-067 is a biosimilar of ranibizumab, developed by GENERIUM Pharmaceuticals. It is a humanized recombinant monoclonal antibody fragment (Fab) that selectively binds to vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A). By inhibiting VEGF-A, GNR-067 prevents its interaction with VEGF receptors on the surface of endothelial cells, thereby reducing abnormal blood vessel growth (neovascularization), vascular leakage, and endothelial cell proliferation in the eye. The drug is administered via intravitreal injection and is being developed primarily for the treatment of neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration. As a biosimilar to Lucentis (ranibizumab), it aims to provide similar efficacy and safety profiles for patients with this vision-threatening condition[1][2][6][8].
