Overview

GNR-069 is a biosimilar of romiplostim developed by GENERIUM Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). It is a recombinant fusion protein that acts as an agonist of the thrombopoietin receptor, thereby stimulating platelet production. The drug has been evaluated in phase III clinical trials to compare its efficacy and safety with Nplate (the original romiplostim) in adult patients with ITP. The studies also assessed pharmacokinetics and immunogenicity. GNR-069 is administered subcutaneously and targets patients who have not responded adequately to first-line therapies or splenectomy[1][2][3][5][6][9].
