Overview

GNR-086 is a biosimilar to canakinumab, developed by Generium. It is a recombinant human monoclonal antibody of the immunoglobulin G1 (IgG1/kappa) isotype that specifically binds to and neutralizes interleukin-1β (IL-1β), a key pro-inflammatory cytokine. By blocking IL-1β from interacting with its receptor, GNR-086 functionally neutralizes the biological activity of this cytokine without affecting the binding of other related molecules such as IL-1Ra or IL-1α. The drug is being developed primarily for systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis and adult-onset Still's disease, aiming to provide an affordable alternative to Ilaris (the reference product). It is administered as a lyophilized powder for subcutaneous injection[2][3][5][6].
