GNU-101

GNU-101 is an orally bioavailable small molecule agonist of G protein-coupled receptor 119 (GPR119) being developed by Genue (formerly Genue Bio) for the treatment of metabolic disorders, including type 2 diabetes and obesity. GPR119 is a lipid-sensing receptor primarily expressed in pancreatic beta cells and enteroendocrine L-cells of the gastrointestinal tract. Activation of GPR119 by GNU-101 stimulates the glucose-dependent secretion of insulin and promotes the release of incretin hormones, such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). This dual mechanism of action aims to improve glycemic control and metabolic health while minimizing the risk of hypoglycemia, making it a promising candidate for managing chronic metabolic conditions.
