**GO-PEG-Fol** is an investigational, folic acid-targeted PEGylated graphene oxide nanomaterial designed for breast-cancer-directed drug delivery and near-infrared photothermal therapy. It consists of plasma-etched nano-graphene oxide sheets approximately 30 nm in size that are functionalized with folic acid-terminated PEG2000 chains. The folate ligand is intended to promote preferential recognition and uptake by folate-receptor-expressing breast cancer cells, while the graphene oxide core converts near-infrared light into heat. In published preclinical cell studies, the platform encapsulated doxorubicin and enabled near-infrared-triggered intracellular drug release and localized hyperthermia, producing selective cytotoxicity in MCF7 and MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells relative to healthy fibroblasts.
