GOBIK is a pentavalent combination vaccine developed by The Research Foundation for Microbial Diseases of Osaka University (BIKEN) for the primary and booster immunization of infants and children. It is designed to protect against five major infectious diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), poliomyelitis (polio), and invasive diseases caused by *Haemophilus influenzae* type b (Hib). The vaccine formulation includes diphtheria and tetanus toxoids, acellular pertussis components (including pertussis toxoid and filamentous hemagglutinin), inactivated poliovirus (IPV) derived from Sabin strains (types 1, 2, and 3), and a Hib capsular polysaccharide conjugated to a tetanus toxoid carrier. By combining these five components into a single injection, GOBIK reduces the total number of vaccinations required during early childhood. It was approved in Japan in 2023 and introduced into the routine immunization schedule in April 2024.
