Overview

Godamed is an over-the-counter analgesic and antithrombotic medication developed by Dr. Pfleger Arzneimittel. Its primary active ingredient is acetylsalicylic acid (ASA), a small molecule that acts as a non-selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes. By inhibiting these enzymes, ASA reduces the synthesis of prostaglandins and thromboxanes, leading to analgesic, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, and antiplatelet effects. The pain-relief formulation, Godamed 500, is buffered with glycine to improve gastric tolerability. It is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate pain and fever, as well as for the prevention of cardiovascular events like myocardial infarction and stroke in lower doses.
