Goenback sesame extract

Goenback sesame extract, also known by the research code HL-JOINT 100, is a proprietary botanical extract derived from sesame seeds (*Sesamum indicum*) and developed by the South Korean company HL Science. Standardized to high concentrations of the lignans sesamin and sesamolin, the extract is primarily indicated for the maintenance of joint and cartilage health. Its mechanism of action involves the down-regulation of pro-inflammatory cytokines, including tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6), as well as the inhibition of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) such as MMP-1, MMP-3, and MMP-13, which are responsible for cartilage degradation. Clinical studies have demonstrated its ability to improve joint function and reduce pain scores in patients with osteoarthritis. In 2018, it received recognition from the South Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) as a functional health food ingredient for joint and cartilage health.
