Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Goenback sesame oil is a standardized nutraceutical extract derived from *Sesamum indicum* seeds, developed by the South Korean biotechnology firm Goen Bio. Primarily indicated for the management of osteoarthritis and joint health, it is characterized by a high concentration of bioactive lignans, including sesamin and sesamolin. The therapeutic mechanism involves the down-regulation of pro-inflammatory mediators such as interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). Furthermore, Goenback sesame oil inhibits the expression of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), which are responsible for the degradation of the extracellular matrix in articular cartilage. By reducing oxidative stress and inflammatory signaling within the synovium, the product aims to alleviate pain and improve physical function in patients with degenerative joint conditions.
