Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Golden Plaster (Jinhuang Gao) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) topical formulation used for the treatment of inflammatory conditions, including knee osteoarthritis. It typically consists of a mixture of herbal ingredients such as Curcumae Longae Rhizoma, Phellodendri Chinensis Cortex, and Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, which are processed into a paste or plaster. The formulation is designed to clear heat, detoxify, and reduce swelling and pain. In clinical trials, it has been evaluated for its efficacy in reducing joint pain and improving physical function in patients with knee osteoarthritis, often as an external application to the affected joint. The therapeutic effects are attributed to the synergistic action of its botanical constituents, which inhibit various inflammatory mediators.
