Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GoldenCare is a copper-based intravaginal device developed by CDA Research Group for the treatment of symptomatic bacterial vaginosis (BV). The device functions by releasing copper ions, which possess broad-spectrum antimicrobial properties, into the vaginal environment to address the bacterial imbalance (dysbiosis) characteristic of BV. This approach serves as a non-antibiotic alternative to standard treatments like metronidazole. A Phase 2 proof-of-concept study (NCT01762670) was conducted to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the device compared to oral metronidazole, assessing its ability to restore healthy vaginal flora.
