golimumab

Golimumab is a fully human IgG1κ monoclonal antibody that acts as a tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitor. It binds with high affinity to both soluble and transmembrane forms of human TNFα, preventing TNF from binding to its receptors and thereby inhibiting downstream inflammatory signaling. This results in reduced leukocyte infiltration, decreased expression of cell adhesion proteins (such as E-selectin, ICAM-1, VCAM-1), and lower secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines including IL-6 and IL-8. Golimumab is indicated for the treatment of several autoimmune diseases including rheumatoid arthritis (in combination with methotrexate), psoriatic arthritis (alone or with methotrexate), ankylosing spondylitis, ulcerative colitis in adults when other treatments have failed or are not tolerated, and polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis in children aged 2 years or older[2][3][5][6][8].
