Overview

Golocdacimab (MEDI6570) is a fully human monoclonal antibody that targets the lectin-like oxidized low-density lipoprotein receptor 1 (LOX-1). By blocking LOX-1, it inhibits the binding of oxidized LDL and other modified lipids to this scavenger receptor. The drug was developed for potential use in cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis and coronary disorders, with additional research interest in type 2 diabetes. Its mechanism of action involves dose-dependent suppression of soluble LOX-1 levels, which may reduce inflammatory and lipid risk factors associated with atherosclerosis. Golocdacimab was developed by MedImmune/AstraZeneca but has been discontinued in clinical development for its primary indications[1][2][4][5][6].
