Overview
Gonadorelin is a synthetic form of the endogenous peptide hormone gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), which is identical in structure to the natural human hormone. It acts as an agonist at the GnRH receptor in the anterior pituitary gland, stimulating the synthesis and release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). These hormones are essential for reproductive function—regulating ovulation in females and spermatogenesis in males. Clinically, gonadorelin is used both diagnostically to assess hypothalamic-pituitary function and therapeutically to induce ovulation or treat conditions such as amenorrhea or hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. Its very short half-life necessitates administration by injection or infusion pump[1][2][5].
