gondoic acid

Gondoic acid is a monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid with a chain length of 20 carbons and one double bond at the 11th carbon from the methyl end. It is found in various plant oils and nuts—especially jojoba oil—and is not synthesized by humans but must be obtained through diet[5][7]. Gondoic acid has been studied for its biological effects; it can inhibit pro-inflammatory factors in liver Kupffer cells by reducing reactive oxygen species production and blocking PKCθ/ERK/STAT3 signaling pathways[6]. It also enhances skin permeation of drugs like indomethacin by perturbing lipid domains in the stratum corneum[8]. Its primary uses are experimental or as a component in dietary supplements.
