Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gongliuning is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation primarily used for the treatment of uterine leiomyoma (uterine fibroids). Developed and manufactured by Gansu Taikang Pharmaceutical, it is a proprietary Chinese patent medicine approved by the NMPA. The formulation consists of multiple herbal ingredients, including *Sargassum*, *Sparganii Rhizoma*, and *Curcumae Rhizoma*, which are traditionally used to activate blood, resolve stasis, and dissipate nodules. Pharmacologically, Gongliuning is thought to exert its therapeutic effects by downregulating estrogen and progesterone receptors in fibroid tissue and promoting apoptosis of leiomyoma cells. It is frequently used in clinical practice in China either as a standalone therapy or in combination with western medications like mifepristone to reduce fibroid size and control symptoms such as heavy menstrual bleeding.
