Overview
Gongliuning tablets (also known as Gongliuning capsules or Gongliuning pian) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation originally developed by the Yueyang Hospital of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine (affiliated with the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine) and commercialized by Gansu Taikang Pharmaceutical. It is composed of ten herbal ingredients, including seaweed, common burreed rhizome (Sanleng), Indian mockstrawberry herb (Shemei), Chinese sage herb (Shijianchuan), barbated skullcap herb (Banzhilian), bistort rhizome (Quanshen), Codonopsis, Chinese yam, millet sprout, and licorice root. Gongliuning is indicated for the treatment of uterine leiomyoma (uterine fibroids) presenting with qi stagnation and blood stasis, helping to soften firmness, dispel lumps, promote blood circulation, and remove blood stasis. It is often evaluated alone or in combination with mifepristone to reduce uterine fibroid volume and alleviate associated symptoms such as prolonged or excessive menstrual bleeding.
