Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gongxuening is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) preparation derived from the rhizome of *Paris polyphylla* var. *yunnanensis* (Yunnan Paris). It is widely utilized in China for the management of various gynecological bleeding disorders, including menorrhagia, abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB), and hemorrhage following medical abortion or childbirth. The drug's primary active constituents are steroidal saponins, which exert hemostatic effects by promoting uterine smooth muscle contraction and inducing local vasoconstriction. Beyond its hemostatic properties, Gongxuening also exhibits anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities, which support its use in treating chronic pelvic inflammatory disease. It was developed and is primarily manufactured by the Yunnan Baiyao Group.
