GOTICK

GOTICK (also known as Tick-Vac) is a recombinant veterinary vaccine developed by LIMOR de Colombia S.A.S. for the control of the cattle tick, *Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus*. Formulated as an oil-based emulsion, the vaccine utilizes recombinant antigens—specifically the Bm86 midgut protein—to stimulate a protective humoral immune response in bovine hosts. When ticks ingest blood from vaccinated cattle, host antibodies target and damage the tick's intestinal wall, leading to impaired nutrient absorption, reduced reproductive capacity, and increased mortality. This immunological approach provides a sustainable alternative or complement to traditional chemical acaricides, helping to manage tick populations and reduce the transmission of tick-borne diseases such as babesiosis and anaplasmosis.
