gp100 human melanoma peptide refers to synthetic peptides derived from the human glycoprotein 100 (gp100) antigen, a melanocyte lineage-specific protein highly expressed in melanoma cells. These peptides are used as cancer vaccines to stimulate an immune response against melanoma by presenting immunodominant epitopes of the gp100 protein to cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs). The most studied variants include amino acid fragments such as 209–217 (with or without the 210M modification), 25–33, and 280–288. These peptides are typically administered with adjuvants and sometimes combined with immune-stimulating agents like interleukin-2. Their mechanism involves activating HLA-A2-restricted CD8+ T cells that recognize and target tumor cells expressing the native gp100 antigen[1][2][5]. Clinical trials have evaluated these vaccines for advanced or high-risk recurrent melanoma[5][6][7].
