Overview

gp100-in4 is a synthetic peptide derived from an intronic region of the gp100 gene (also known as PMEL/ME20/Melanocyte protein), specifically translated from the fourth intron (in4) of the gene. It acts as a tumor-associated antigenic epitope restricted to HLA-A*2402, designed to induce immune responses against melanoma cells. The peptide binds with high affinity to HLA-A*2402 and is capable of triggering cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) responses, promoting antigen-specific CD8+ T-cell responses, and potentially inducing melanoma cell lysis. It has been tested as a vaccine candidate in phase I clinical trials in patients with advanced melanoma and has demonstrated immunogenic activity, although objective anti-tumor effects have yet to be established[1][2].
