Overview

gp100:154-162 reactive peripheral blood lymphocytes refers to an adoptive cell therapy utilizing T-lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell) that are specifically reactive to the gp100:154-162 peptide. This peptide is an epitope derived from the gp100 protein, a known antigen expressed by melanoma cells. These lymphocytes are typically collected from a patient, expanded ex vivo, and often genetically engineered to express a T-cell receptor (TCR) that recognizes the gp100:154-162 epitope when presented by HLA-A*0201 molecules on the surface of tumor cells. Upon reinfusion into the patient, these engineered T-cells target and destroy melanoma cells, leading to tumor regression. This therapy is primarily investigated for metastatic melanoma and is often administered following a lymphodepleting preparative regimen and in conjunction with interleukin-2 (aldesleukin) to support T-cell survival and proliferation.
