Overview

gp100:209-217 is a synthetic peptide cancer vaccine derived from amino acid residues 209 through 217 of the glycoprotein 100 (gp100) melanoma antigen. The most clinically studied version is gp100:209-217(210M), which features a methionine substitution at position 210 to enhance immunogenicity. This peptide is designed to stimulate an immune response against melanoma cells expressing the gp100 antigen by presenting this epitope to cytotoxic T lymphocytes. It has been investigated primarily as an immunotherapeutic agent for advanced melanoma, often in combination with high-dose interleukin-2 or other adjuvants such as Montanide ISA-51[1][3][6][7]. Clinical trials have shown that combining this vaccine with interleukin-2 can improve response rates and progression-free survival in patients with metastatic melanoma compared to interleukin-2 alone[3][6].
