GP120 CAR-T

GP120 CAR-T is an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy being developed by Wuhan Porida Biotechnology (Bio-Raid) for the treatment of HIV infection. The therapy involves the genetic modification of T cells to express a CAR that specifically recognizes the HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein gp120. By targeting gp120, which is present on the surface of cells actively producing HIV or cells where the virus has been reactivated from latency, the CAR-T cells are designed to selectively bind to and eliminate the HIV-infected reservoir. The program is currently undergoing Phase 1 exploratory clinical trials to evaluate its safety, persistence, and efficacy in reducing the viral load and potentially achieving a functional cure for HIV.
