Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**gp120-NefTat + AS01B** is a combination vaccine candidate comprised of recombinant HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein gp120 and HIV proteins Nef and Tat, formulated with the AS01B adjuvant. The AS01B adjuvant is a liposome-based adjuvant system containing QS-21 and MPL (3-O-desacyl-4'-monophosphoryl lipid A), designed to boost immunogenicity. The vaccine aims to elicit strong, persistent HIV-specific humoral and cellular responses, including binding and neutralizing antibodies to gp120 and robust CD4+ T-cell responses to both gp120 and the regulatory proteins Nef and Tat. Primary indications are **preventive vaccination against HIV-1** in healthy, HIV-uninfected adults, with clinical evaluation mainly in phase I/II trials. Studies show that AS01B adjuvanted formulations induce superior CD4+ T-cell and antibody responses compared to other adjuvant systems[1][3][4].
