GP28zT2 is an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by Wellington Zhaotai, specifically designed to target Glypican-3 (GPC3) for the treatment of liver cancer, including hepatocellular carcinoma. The therapeutic construct incorporates a CAR that recognizes GPC3, an oncofetal antigen frequently overexpressed in liver tumors. The "28z" nomenclature indicates the inclusion of a CD28 co-stimulatory domain and a CD3-zeta signaling domain, which together provide the necessary signals for robust T-cell activation, expansion, and effector function upon binding to the target antigen. Currently in the preclinical stage of development, GP28zT2 aims to provide a targeted cellular immunotherapy option for patients with GPC3-expressing malignancies.
