Overview

GP40131 is a biosimilar of insulin degludec, a long-acting basal insulin analog originally developed by Novo Nordisk as Tresiba. Developed by the Russian pharmaceutical company Geropharm, GP40131 is a recombinant protein therapeutic designed for the treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. It functions by binding to and activating the insulin receptor, facilitating glucose uptake and regulating blood sugar levels over an extended period. In 2025, the Russian Ministry of Health approved Phase III clinical trials for the drug, positioning it as a key candidate in Geropharm's diabetes pipeline.
