Overview

GPBBzT2 is a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by Wellington Zhaotai for the treatment of liver cancer, specifically hepatocellular carcinoma. The therapy is engineered to target Glypican-3 (GPC3), a cell-surface oncofetal antigen that is highly expressed in liver cancer cells but has limited expression in healthy adult tissues. The CAR construct features a second-generation design incorporating a 4-1BB (CD137) co-stimulatory domain and a CD3-zeta signaling domain, which are intended to enhance the activation, metabolic fitness, and long-term persistence of the T cells within the tumor microenvironment. The "T2" suffix refers to the company's proprietary T2 CAR-T platform. Currently, GPBBzT2 is in the preclinical stage of development.
