GPC-1-targeted CAR-T is an experimental chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy being co-developed by Carina Biotech and GlyTherix for the treatment of solid tumors. The therapy utilizes T cells engineered to express a CAR specific for Glypican-1 (GPC-1), a cell-surface heparan sulfate proteoglycan that is highly expressed in several cancers, including prostate, colorectal, and ovarian malignancies, while showing limited expression in normal tissues. By targeting GPC-1, the CAR-T cells are designed to selectively bind to and destroy tumor cells through T-cell-mediated killing. The program is currently in the preclinical stage of development, aiming to provide a potent and specific treatment option for patients with GPC-1-positive solid tumors.
