CAR T Cells (GPC2-targeting) is a preclinical-stage chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy being developed by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in collaboration with Bristol Myers Squibb. The therapy involves genetically engineering a patient's T cells to express a CAR that specifically recognizes Glypican-2 (GPC2), a cell-surface protein that is highly overexpressed in pediatric solid tumors such as neuroblastoma and medulloblastoma, but has limited expression in normal tissues. Upon re-infusion, these engineered T cells are designed to bind to GPC2-expressing tumor cells, leading to T-cell activation and targeted tumor cell lysis. The program aims to address the high unmet need in refractory or recurrent pediatric cancers.
