Overview

GPD-1116 is a novel small molecule dual inhibitor of phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4) and phosphodiesterase 1 (PDE1), developed by ASKA Pharmaceutical. Unlike selective PDE4 inhibitors, its additional activity against PDE1 is intended to enhance its anti-inflammatory and bronchodilatory profile. The compound belongs to the naphthyridine chemical class. It has been investigated for the treatment of respiratory conditions, including allergic asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). A Phase IIa allergen-challenge study in the United Kingdom has been completed, evaluating its efficacy in reducing the late-phase asthmatic response in patients with mild to moderate allergic asthma. Preclinical studies also suggest potential utility in acute lung injury and pulmonary hypertension.
