GPER siRNA refers to small interfering RNA molecules designed to silence the expression of the G-protein coupled estrogen receptor 1 (GPER), also known as GPR30. GPER is a seven-transmembrane G-protein coupled receptor that mediates rapid, non-genomic signaling in response to 17β-estradiol and other estrogenic compounds. In the context of oncology research, GPER siRNA is used to knock down GPER expression to investigate its role in cell proliferation, survival, and the signaling pathways of various cancers, including breast and ovarian cancer. By reducing GPER protein levels, researchers can distinguish between GPER-dependent and GPER-independent effects of estrogenic ligands and agonists like G1.
