Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GPN00068 is a small molecule drug candidate developed by Xudong Haipu for the treatment of sepsis. It functions as a selective antagonist of Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), a key protein in the innate immune system that recognizes pathogen-associated molecular patterns such as lipopolysaccharides (LPS) from Gram-negative bacteria. In septic patients, the overactivation of TLR4 triggers an uncontrolled systemic inflammatory response, often referred to as a cytokine storm, which can lead to multi-organ failure and high mortality rates. By blocking the TLR4 signaling pathway, GPN00068 aims to mitigate this hyper-inflammatory cascade and improve clinical outcomes. The drug is currently in Phase 1 clinical development in China, where it is being evaluated for safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers and patients.
