GQ-11 is a **new thiazolidine compound** that acts as a **partial, dual agonist at peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors alpha and gamma (PPARα/γ)**. It exhibits **antidiabetic properties similar to thiazolidinediones (TZDs)** but with reduced adverse effects such as weight gain, bone loss, and cardiovascular risks. In preclinical studies, GQ-11 improved insulin sensitivity, restored adipokine balance, improved lipid profiles, and promoted wound healing in diabetic mice. Its mechanism involves modulating inflammation by upregulating anti-inflammatory cytokines (such as IL-10, Arg-1, and TGF-β), suppressing pro-inflammatory cytokines (such as IL-1β and TNF-α), and increasing re-epithelization and collagen deposition during tissue repair. The compound has shown efficacy in improving metabolic and inflammatory parameters in obesity- and diabetes-induced animal models[1][2].
