Gracilaria salicornia extract is a botanical extract derived from the red macroalga *Gracilaria salicornia*, which is found in tropical marine environments such as the coast of North Sulawesi, Indonesia. It is primarily investigated for its potential antineoplastic and antioxidant properties. In preclinical research, ethanol extracts of this seaweed have demonstrated cytotoxic activity against human cervical adenocarcinoma (HeLa) cells, although it often shows lower potency compared to other tropical seaweeds like *Turbinaria decurrens*. Its mechanism of action is thought to involve bioactive secondary metabolites, including phenolic compounds, which contribute to antioxidant activity by scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reducing oxidative stress. While it exhibits antiproliferative effects in vitro, it is currently in the early research stage and is not an approved pharmaceutical.
