Overview

GRAd-COV2 is a COVID-19 vaccine candidate developed by ReiThera. It is based on a novel, replication-incompetent simian (gorilla) adenoviral vector (GRAd) that encodes the full-length, prefusion-stabilized spike protein of SARS-CoV-2. The vaccine aims to induce both humoral and cellular immune responses against the virus. Clinical trials have shown that GRAd-COV2 is well tolerated and elicits robust neutralizing antibody titers as well as strong CD8+ T cell responses after a single dose, with enhanced antibody levels following a second dose. The gorilla adenovirus vector has low seroprevalence in humans, reducing the risk of pre-existing immunity interfering with vaccine efficacy. Development includes collaborations for formulation stability and large-scale manufacturing[1][2][4][7].
