Grafix Prime

Grafix Prime is a cryopreserved placental membrane (specifically amniotic membrane) developed by Osiris Therapeutics (now part of Smith & Nephew). It is a living tissue graft that retains the native components of the placental membrane, including viable endogenous cells such as mesenchymal stem cells, fibroblasts, and epithelial cells, as well as growth factors and a collagen-rich extracellular matrix (ECM). It is primarily indicated for the treatment of chronic wounds, including diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) and venous leg ulcers (VLU), as well as surgical wounds and burns. The graft acts as a biological scaffold that promotes wound closure by providing structural support and signaling molecules that modulate inflammation and stimulate tissue regeneration. Unlike some other skin substitutes, Grafix Prime is processed to maintain the integrity of the placental tissue layers and the viability of its cellular components.
