Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GrafixCORE is a cryopreserved chorion-based placental membrane developed by Osiris Therapeutics (now part of Smith & Nephew) for the treatment of complex chronic wounds, specifically diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) with exposed deep structures like tendon or bone. As a cellular and tissue-based product (CTP), it preserves the native extracellular matrix (ECM), endogenous growth factors, and viable cells—including mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), fibroblasts, and epithelial cells—found in the chorion layer of the placenta. The product functions as a biological scaffold that supports tissue regeneration, provides anti-inflammatory signals, and promotes wound closure in challenging clinical scenarios where standard care often fails. It is typically applied topically to the wound bed and is cryopreserved to maintain cell viability until the time of use.
