Graftjacket Now is a human dermal matrix (HDM) allograft derived from decellularized donated human skin. It is designed to provide a regenerative scaffold that preserves the natural extracellular matrix (ECM) components, such as Type I and III collagen, elastin, and proteoglycans, while removing cellular material to prevent an immune response. In the context of orthopedic surgery, specifically for the repair of large or massive rotator cuff tears, the patch is used as an augmentation to reinforce the tendon-to-bone interface. It functions by providing immediate mechanical strength and acting as a biological framework for host cell repopulation and revascularization, ultimately aiming to facilitate tissue healing and reduce the high rates of re-tear associated with traditional repair methods.
