Overview

Grafton refers to a family of **demineralized bone matrix (DBM) allograft products** used as bone graft extenders, bone graft substitutes, and bone void fillers in orthopedic and reconstructive bone grafting procedures. These products are derived from human donor bone, processed to remove minerals while preserving proteins and naturally occurring growth factors, resulting in osteoinductive and osteoconductive graft material. Grafton DBM is available in multiple forms such as paste, putty, gel, and fibers, and may be used alone or combined with autologous or other allograft bone. Its primary mechanism is to provide a biologically active scaffold to support new bone formation by promoting the recruitment, adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation of osteogenic cells. The product has received FDA 510(k) clearance for use in orthopedic indications as a bone graft substitute, extender, and bone void filler[2][6].
