GRAFTYS HBS is an injectable, resorbable calcium phosphate apatitic cement developed by Graftys SA. It is designed as a bone substitute for the treatment of subchondral bone marrow lesions (bone marrow edema), particularly in the knee joint. The material consists of a proprietary calcium phosphate composition combined with a resorbable polymer that enhances its injectability and resorbability. When injected percutaneously into areas of bone edema under radiographic guidance, it provides immediate mechanical reinforcement to the weakened trabecular bone, acts as an osteoconductive scaffold for new bone formation, and is intended to prevent the progression of joint degeneration and osteoarthritis. The University of Sao Paulo General Hospital has conducted clinical research evaluating its functional outcomes and technical feasibility in patients with knee bone marrow edema.
