Granulisina (MFE23GRNLY) is a preclinical-stage recombinant fusion protein immunotoxin being developed by Peaches Biotech under license from the University of Zaragoza. The drug consists of human granulysin, a cytotoxic protein naturally found in T lymphocytes and NK cells, fused to the MFE23 single-chain variable fragment (scFv) antibody, which targets carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). This biologic is designed to selectively deliver the pro-apoptotic activity of granulysin to tumor cells expressing CEA, such as those found in colon cancer, cervical tumors, gastric cancer, and lung adenocarcinomas. Upon binding to the tumor cell surface, the fusion protein triggers the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway to exert its cytotoxic effects. The recombinant protein is produced using a *Pichia pastoris* yeast expression system and has demonstrated efficacy in animal models of colon and cervical carcinoma.
